May 15, 2014 – Thursday
My eldest son (“Titus”) introduced me to a7x a LOOOOONG time ago. And I was absolutely hooked from the beginning. I have written so many blog posts, facebook notes, journal entries and the like, about this band. I just feel like they are true artistry and metal magic. They may have gotten a little more commercial in the past few years, but I think they’ve just been playing it safe since The Rev passed away. Plus, they’re old now. Well…if I’m old, because they would’ve been a year behind me in high school. And some days, I feel old. I think that’s the great thing about a band that sticks through the initial success and keeps pushing through the bullshit years. It’s a family. You don’t give up on family. And that’s when the real work starts to show.
This show was in Syracuse, NY and was a birthday present to myself & Titus (both of our birthdays were within a month of the show). It was a truly amazing experience, and I’m glad I got to share it with my son.
